What's The Best Concert You've Attended At The Albany Civic Center?

I was replying to Rodrick Hayes blog post about concerts at the Albany Civic and it made me think, what's the best show I've attended there....now we all know that back in the day all the major artists use to come thru Albany and the Civic Center use to stay jumping with them....so what's the best show you've attended there?....for me it's got to be when MC Hammer "The Greatest Show on Earth" performed here....now what artist "today" can perform with this much energy and get the crowd this hyped?....I bet ya'll old school cats probably got tired just from watching this clip here....LOL

LOL....George You Wrong For That....LOL....Man I Can't Stop Laughing....Why You Put Rodney F.Out There Like That??? I Didn't Know He Acted Like That...You Know I Just Got To Mess With Him Now....It's On...LOL
Man Edgar, Rodney acted a str8 fool, just ask Mr. Marshall.....he'll tell you the whole story....Rodney had it bad for Luther.....It use to str8 turn my stomach

George all of them didn't happen in the Civic Center what about the one at Hugh Mills.....Kurtis Blow was the headliner...I think Seventh Wonder was the opening act. Now yall know we're country down here in Albany....how 'bout we were actually expecting a "band" when Kurtis came out. We were like what in the hell, we didn't pay no money to see him play a record! hahaha...OK...we didn't know how rappers did it....I'll admit it! LOL
ANOTHER GOOD CONCERT WAS THE GLADYS KNIGHT CONCERT FEATURING ALEXANDER ONEAL --SONYA DO YOU AND GEORGE REMEMBER THAT ONE?
Sonya, Nardo I remember both of those shows....I also remember when Rick James came thru and stepped out on stage with a big 'ol fat one....talking about "Fire It Up"....I was like Rick....you the ALB not the ATL...you'll get put in jail down here....lol.
I can remember some great concerts at Albany Civic Center. My favorite R&B was the Patti Labelle concert summer of 1996.. it was awesome. She was the only artist on the show and she turned it out none stop. It was great to see someone from the Albany surrounding area do it to it!

Now umma talk about my hip hop artist, taking it way back to the days of Run-DMC, LL Cool J, Heavy D and the Boyz, Rakim, Public Enemy, and Salt & Pepa! These artist turned it out between 84-90 on multiple occasions, I still have the concert tickets in my year book. I have to agree that M.C. Hammer put on an amazing show when he came thru and he even had a baseball game day at Monroe where his group played baseball against some peeps from Albany.. DJ Span being one of them. I took a pic with Terrible T of Oaktown 357 that sat on my counter for years. But the greatest person to turn out any show hands down was Dougie Fresh and the Get Fresh Crew!! I've never seen something so amazing.. he was on the LL Cool J tour Bigger and Deffer but LL let him go last because his show was too much to come behind. He just keep the crowd 100% crunk the entire time he was on stage. He's was dubbed the Greatest Entertainer Alive in Hip Hop and to me it still stands in my book. Chuch!
T rock you hit the grand slam with that one, I was a big L.L. Fan as a a shorty and I was there, it was incredible, I think L.L. Came out on the stage through a huge radio tape deck, and Doug E. Came out of like this big globe that was spinning. Mary mary,Run's house, off the chain, but it definitely was Doug E Fresh "Show!"
RUN-DMC & JAM MASTER JAY!!! Me and my brother rode our bikes to the "Mary Mary" video shoot that morning then got dropped off in the rain later that night for the concert.
Henry, I was there for that video also!!.. I made it to the front row cause I got there early!! I even seen myself in the video, during the part where Mary Mary walks thru the crowd, we had to turn our heads to look back and make an isle for it to walk down. it = a dude in a dress playing mary mary... I didn't understand why they couldn't have gotten a real female to play the part! Yes everyone, this was filmed at the Albany Civic Center !! I'm at the bottom of the screen at 2:52 with the Monroe Tornado Hat on. I'll sign autographs later.. holla at me..

Henry, T-Rock I remember that show also....T-Rock isn't Cheryl in that video also....I think she's one the females selling T-shirts at the 2:30 mark....I could be wrong though.
Cheryl Jones? We need to ask her.. I see a few peeps from Albany walking up the stairs during the first scene.
Definitely run DMC!!!!
