Hello UB Fellow Classmates, Greeting from Miss UB 1980 Hey Patricia Peterson Davis oh boy you brought alot of memories. After reading your comment yes, Dr. Hardy Troup and Mrs.Smith if you remember her were our Mother's away from home. don't think that for one second they didn't know about our little nightly rendevous while living on Campus .Having to attend School on Saturday's and been up all nite not wanting to attend class because we were tired and sleepy.(LOL) Living on Campus during weekdays an d would go home long enough to get other things bumming rides here and there. having talk trash moments (meaning who's schools were the best) among our classmates we had Schools from surrounding counties, Oh boy those were the good ole days. having, as you said would walk up to Maryland's Fried Chicken late at nite to buy chicken walk back to the Campus and then sneak out to meet our fellow as the old folks would say. lol Girl we can tell the youngsters about our UB experience. It was a wonderful program for those of us who was seeking and wanting to be able to attend College but unfortunately our Parent's were not fiancally able. So we attended the UB program and it helped some of us with Scholarships and other Grants to assist us with College Funding. By the Grace of God Myself, and two of my sister's Marla McDaniels Little and Bernadette Jones were selected among others to attend so we were truly Blessed. I really do think that we do need to Have a UB Reunion it would be great to see alot of the ole Classmates but most of all alot of friends we made while being in UB. When you talk to Dr.Troup-Hardy tell her Hello the last time I seen her was August 2006-2007 in her Friday nite Global Issue Class I was a student of her's At ASU. Sooooooooooo Let's keep this trend going continue to keep and have alot of good memeries of ASU UB Program. Thanks Miss UB 1980 Mrs.Cecilia D. Jones

I enrolled in the UB Program in 1981. Yes you guys are right; it gave us a great start. I was Dr. Troup-Hardy's babysitter while I was attending the program. She told me that I was going to be one of the contestants for Miss UB . Well I did and won the title of Miss UB. She then told me that I was going to pledge AKA in college. Yes I did do that too.
Today I get to see her often in meetings because we both are employees of the Do. Co. School System. It feels good to see her smile. And she calls me all the time at work and leaves messages for me to come to her school and take care of some student issues. She always introduces me as her daughter and say "I raised this girl." She taught me so much about life. She made me have pride and confidence in myself.
I have so many fond memories of Upward Bound. like putting a stick in the door so that it wouldn't close, when you know you should be in the room, throwing rocks at the window for someone to open the door, going to the dances, and walking to Marylands Chicken with money we pitched in to buy a chicken box, hearing Mrs. Wilson fuss about the noise and us breaking the rules, thinking that I was grown because I was away from home, trying to get to that one phone to call a boy or waiting for phone calls....And wearing those flat sandals that had the different strings. We would share the strings to the sandals so that we would have more colors. I see those sandals are back in style today.
I feel blessed to have been a product of UB. Plus this was the time when life was simple. We had some good times.

LOL..Yeah Monte, them buckets of water ain't no joke, matter of fact I got a story about the first time I went BUCKWILD!!
One night when I went on a RAMPAGE in the dorms at ASC after our chaperon LUKE decided to let me drink some Vodka in the dorms after I got off work at McDonald's around 0 dark 30 in the morning (the one on the East side right in front of Rose's on Oglethorpe).., being a young buck that didn't drink, I got crazy!! Zom (Tracy M) was in the dorm room with me as I was getting my first time drink on and he was the first victim. First I went into this uncontrollable laugh just looking at Tracy and kept saying "ZOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!!" and LAUGHING MY AZZ OFF... then I got 2 cups that I filled with water and just started knocking on peoples doors and gushing fools in the face with full cups of water then I would run and hide out. I had all the Upward Bound clowns as well as some college students running through the dorms... This went for about an hour until I called a truce, so they thought. I held my hands up and said I quit, at this time in the game everybody was just laughing at me and playing along...... What they didn't know is when I entered the room I had a cup filled with fruit punch stuff behind my back. I went in the room, stood by the door and talked with the fellas for as long as I could without busting out laughing cause I knew I had em. It was Monte, Ced, Tracy, Rod Carter, George(from Sylvester), Greenwave and Dung Bush... In the middle of the conversation I said something like, "Yall don't realize it'll never stop!!".. I pulled the cup out and these fools was jumping all over each other trying to get away from me like ants but it was no where to hide in that lil azz dorm room. I splashed everyone I could with red fruit punch and turned off the lights in the room then ran like hayell. After that I looked back everybody in the dorm was running after me... after they finally caught me, it became 1 crazy drunk getting beat down by the whole dorm fighting in the hallway, when they finally got me down, they threw water all over me and beat my azz till the early morning! Now that was some funny shiz that I'll never forget. Those are my brothas for life. Peace!!

Player Henderson, I know you was one of the founders of Phi KA which started in Upward Bound right? Yall started in Summer 1984 but I got there in Spring of 85 and that was when Phi's ran things. The we had UBPlayers in 86, then Skunk Brothers Summer of 87. Marshall, it was a tradition that came from us, the Class of 88 (mostly), after the new dudes came in. First we use to turn on each other randomly and sneak in each others rooms and do crazy stuff. They got me with the tooth paste in the ear and a feather to make me rub it in my own face while asleep. I was mad as hell and it was due to my roommate/best friend Reggie Jones letting them fools in the room on me. After that, I was down to get errbody!! lol.. And we did just that. We splashed enough water through Blaylock Hall to start a flood. Good ole days.
